Meet an Assistant Crane Operator
My name is Laura López Lazaro, I am 38 years old and I have had the pleasure of being part of the offshore sector for a long time, for 7 years I have been working with Fontis Energy (previously SeaMex).
I started in the ATM category in which I lasted 6 months, developing maintenance activities such as scaffolding, clearing, polishing and painting; based on the knowledge learned I prepared myself to reach the next category ATP, better known as Roustabout. To mention some of the activities I performed are: maneuvering and hoisting, chemical aggregation, trim collection, general maintenance, confined space work, flight reception as well as vessels and as an important member of the marine section crew. It is worth mentioning that I have spent these years of experience in this same position, being grateful for the support of the company as it allowed me to be one of the first women to occupy this category that many thought was unattainable for a woman.
With the effort and support of my colleagues and the management of the rig (Courageous) I was allowed to obtain the knowledge to have a job growth; and one of the results of this is that I am currently in the category of Assistant Crane Operator.
Commenting on the previous opportunities that the company has given me, I share with you one of my aspirations which is to be a Crane Operator. I continue to learn and train hard, achieving knowledge of it. I am very proud to be part of our Courageous rig and for the support that has been given to me.
I say goodbye to you thanking you and above all mentioning that gender equality goes beyond just using the word "equal", it is something that requires effort and acceptance from everyone involved to achieve this equality.
